Are reservations required?

Reservations are strongly recommended and easy to make online or by phone (504) 467-0758. Our boats sell out quite often especially during peak season, and a reservation is the best way to avoid arriving at the swamp with no availability.

What makes Cajun Pride Unique? Why should I choose Cajun Pride?

Cajun Pride’s swamp tours are conducted on our own private swamp with protected wildlife for an unforgettable journey into the Manchac Swamp. We do not allow fishing and hunting so the animals are plentiful and not too shy. Our privately owned swamp ensures that your tour will not be disturbed by other boats that may be joy riding or water skiing. We offer a convenient roundtrip shuttle service from most area hotels providing a relaxing way to travel as you enjoy fascinating cultural information and traditions from your shuttle driver.

How far away is the swamp? Plantations?

Cajun Pride
Swamp is 27 miles from Downtown New Orleans/French Quarter and only 15 minutes from the New Orleans Airport. The Plantation is approximately 30 minutes further past the swamp or approximately 1 hour from Downtown New Orleans/French Quarter. Times are approximate and may increase due to traffic or circumstances beyond our control.

Which tour do you recommend?

We recommend that you try our
Best Value/Combination tour. Our Combination tour allows you to combine our swamp tour with a plantation tour. When you book our Combination tour, you’ll enjoy a savings on the total cost.

Where will the shuttle pick me up? Drop me off?

Cajun Pride offers transportation service from many New Orleans, Metairie and Kenner area hotels with pick-ups 1.5 hours prior to your scheduled tour time. Please call (504) 467-0758 to confirm if our shuttle service is available from your hotel. We will advise your pick-up time/instructions during the reservation process.

Can you guarantee me an exact return time and location?

Due to the potential for unexpected traffic delays within the city, we cannot guarantee an exact return time. Every attempt is made to remain on schedule and to return you to your hotel for the times indicated. Should you have a special concern regarding your return time, please advise us upon making your reservation and discuss this with your driver.

Can we eat and/or drink in the shuttle?

In consideration for all guests and for sanitation reasons, there is no eating or drinking in the shuttle. However, there are picnic tables throughout our swamp property to enjoy food and beverage.

Can I bring a stroller/wheelchair?

Our shuttles are able to store strollers and some small, collapsible wheelchairs in the rear of the vehicles. One of our boats is wheelchair accessible. Please advise us upon making your reservation if someone in your party will be in a wheelchair as our space is limited.

Unfortunately, our shuttles are not handicap lift equipped and for insurance reasons, our drivers are not able to offer assistance.

Are you open during New Orleans special events such as Mardi Gras? Will you offer hotel pick-up and drop-off? What happens if New Orleans parade routes and times change after my reservation is made?

Cajun Pride is open at regular times for guests driving to our location during New Orleans special events in the city. Tours requiring hotel pick-up and drop-off are offered and limited to 5 pick-up locations due to barricaded streets in New Orleans. During Mardi Gas, times and parade routes can change mainly due to Mother Nature. In the event that there is a delay, schedule change or cancellation, we will attempt to contact you at the number provided or via email. While every effort is made to avoid changes and cancellations, pick-up locations may change due to circumstances beyond our control. If we are forced to change a drop-off location, we will get as close as possible to your hotel. New Orleans is renowned for the easy walking distances to hotels, and it should only be a few blocks away from your hotel. We are closed only on Mardi Gras day which will always fall on a Tuesday.

How often do you tour?

Swamp tours are offered 3 times a day 9:30AM, 12Noon, and 2:15PM during the winter months (November 1-March 31) with a 4th tour offered at 4:15PM during the summer months (March 1-October 31). We are closed on Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras), Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Please see our complete list of Tours to view tour times. Please call to confirm our holiday schedule as it is subject to change.

Do you tour if it rains?

Our tours, including our
swamp tour, are offered come rain or shine. We will only cancel our tours in the event of extreme weather conditions including lightning strikes and will make every attempt to contact you in the event that a tour is cancelled. Our swamp tour boats are covered, making tours in the rain possible and unlikely to be cancelled. Umbrellas or rain ponchos are suggested for walking in the rain from the shuttles to the swamp or plantation sites.

The plantation tours are mostly indoors although an umbrella is suggested for the walk from our shuttle to the plantation.

How do we get to the swamp on our own? If I drive myself or take rideshare, when should I arrive?

If you do not choose our shuttle option, Uber and Lyft (rideshare) may be available. We request that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your tour time as the traffic along the route to Cajun Pride can be unpredictable. If you are taking a ride share, there could be quite a delay so please give yourself extra time. When you arrive, the ticket office is directly UPSTAIRS where you will check-in and collect your ticket in order to visit our property and board the boat.

Motorcoach transportation may be arranged for groups requiring transportation.

If you have your own vehicle, please see the Directions Page within this website.

How much walking is involved?

The
swamp tour is entirely by boat. You need only to walk from the shuttle to the boat, which is a very short distance. The Plantation tours include some walking, but do not involve great distances.

Can we bring an ice chest on the swamp property or boat?

Small, personal size (8.5×11; think piece of paper) ice chests are allowed on the boats, must fit below your feet and cannot take up a seat on the boat. Light snacks such as alligator jerky, chips, chocolate can be eaten on the boats. Beverages (other than outside beer and alcohol) can be enjoyed on the boats. There are also picnic tables throughout our property to enjoy small amounts of food and beverage. Should there be a larger amount of food, there will be a property fee charged to cover the monitoring and cleaning of the used area.

Is food and beverage available at Cajun Pride Swamp Tour location?

Limited snack options such as alligator jerky, chips, chocolate and frozen bananas are available in the ticket office/gift shop at all times. Soda, beer and shooters are also available in limited quantities with a pictured I.D.

Are there bathrooms on the boat?

There are no bathrooms on the boat. Bathrooms are available at the swamp site both upstairs and downstairs, before and after your tour.

Can I bring small children for a swamp tour?

Our tours are perfect for any age group. While on swamp property and in the ticket office/gift shop, children are required to remain with an adult at all times for safety reasons.

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

We suggest comfortable and casual attire. We are a family establishment, and proper attire is required including shirt and shoes, no offensive language or imagery and no swimwear or similar attire (booty/cheeky shorts).

Do we have to worry about mosquitoes?

Mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk. Mosquitos are less active during tour times and are rarely seen. If you choose to use repellent, we ask that you wash your hands thoroughly before handling any of the critters that we may have on tour.

Do you give discounts?

Discounted rates are available when booking direct, through our website. When booking via our online “Book Now” reservation system, you will automatically receive our discounted online rate.

Additional coupons/discounts may NOT be used in conjunction with our already discounted online rates. All coupons require that you book tours directly with us and NOT through a hotel concierge, booking agent or tour desk.

We also offer discounts to groups of 25 or more. Please contact our sales staff to discuss group tour rates.

How do I pay?

We accept cash, credit cards and Apple Pay with photo ID.

Is the tip included?

We do not add gratuities into our fees. However, tips are greatly appreciated and welcomed for excellent service.

Are we allowed to feed the animals?

There is no feeding of animals by guests due to safety reasons and for the care and respect of our wildlife. Our captains will minimally feed some of the animals during tour times in the back of the property. On occasion we will be monitoring a rescued animal that we have released. Small amounts of food might be given until the animal has acclimated to its environment.

Is there an alligator on the boat? Why is there gauze around the alligator’s mouth and will it harm the alligator? Are children allowed to touch or hold live animals?

We do have live alligators and sometimes rescued animals on the boats. Anytime an alligator is presented, the mouth will have loose athletic gauze around the mouth for safety reasons. We follow strict guidelines and have proper permits in order to have an alligator on tour. Alligators are very precious to us, and we handle them with the utmost care and respect rotating them throughout the day for their comfort. At the discretion of our captains, all toddlers/children (up to approximately age 6) must be sitting on a parent’s lap or seated in order to touch or hold any live animal. The captain will have the final say if he will allow anyone of any age to hold our animals to maintain the animals’ comfort and trust.

Do you allow service animals on your swampland or boat?

Cajun Pride Swamp Tours cannot accept service animals of any kind on our swamp tour or at our swamp property due to the nature of the wildlife in the area. Animals can be viewed as prey for alligators, and therefore could encourage an attack, whether on a boat or on the swamp property. Cajun Pride does not offer boarding services so please make arrangements for your furry friends prior to visiting us. We ask you kindly not to leave a pet or service animal in a vehicle on our property. We want to make sure everyone has a safe and fun time on our tours, and we appreciate your understanding.
